1. Petrified Forest National Park Artist-in-Residence Demonstration Artist-in-Residence August 16th–29th Jamie McHugh I call my work Nature-Being-Art to bring attention to the compelling aesthetic of nature. I am not a “documenter” of nature with photography, but more of a “co-creator”. I am interested in capturing the feel of the motion and stillness of the natural environment, and its contemporary abstract and contemplative nature. The ambiguous nature of the images and the way I present them very often perplexes people, as they are not sure if they are looking at a painting or a photograph! Dance and photography have each in their own way taught me to be still while in motion, and to be moving while still. Poised to capture an ephemeral moment, one becomes more attuned to the changing nature of one’s surroundings. By witnessing nature’s aesthetic of light, motion, color and form, we are constantly reminded that we live on a mysterious and magnificent planet. I hope these images reveal nature’s body to you in new and unexpected ways.—Jamie McHugh
