  3. Tahap Sederhana • Migrasi aplikasi kompatibility penuh • Seperti OpenOffice.org • Migrasi infrastruktur & teknologi standard yang didukung Linux • Jaringan • Lakukan sistem parallel untuk migrasi data.

  4. Tahapan Sederhana .. (con’t) • Bila di rasakan sistem baru dapat di andalkan • Sistem lama tetap di operasikan sebagai backup • Lakukan tindakan jaga-jaga selama beberapa waktu tertentu • Misalnya 3 bulan

  6. Contoh Sederhana .. • Microsoft Office untuk membuat surat, perhitungan keuangan sederhana, database sederhana, presentasi produk • AMAN – menggunakan OpenOffice. • Anda dapat tetap pakai Windows-nya. • Back-up dokumen lama anda. • Training karyawan mungkin di perlukan.

  7. Contoh Sederhana .. • Menyimpan database di Excel secara insentif & membuat laporan. Berencana memindahkan ke Web. • AMAN – dapat menggunakan Apache, PHP/Python atau MySQL. • Simpan Excel dalam Comma Separated Value (cvs). • Buat Tabel di MySQL. • Import dengan MySQL atau PHPMyAdmin. • Selesai.

  8. Contoh Sederhana .. • Migrasi Microsoft Explorer & Outlook. • AMAN • Ms IE dapat diganti Mozilla • Ms Outlook dapat diganti Evolution.

  10. Contoh Sederhana .. • Banyak bekerja dengan database • RELATIF AMAN • Banyak database server di Linux, mulai dari yang kecil, hingga yang besar seperti MySQL, Postgres sampai Oracle.

  11. Contoh Sederhana .. • Banyak bekerja dengan multimedia, terutama grafis • TIDAK TERLALU AMAN • Tidak banyak aplikasi pembuat grafis yang andal di Linux. GIMP memang contoh yang baik.

  12. Contoh Sederhana .. • Banyak bekerja dengan multimedia, terutama gambar 3D dan video authoring. • TIDAK AMAN. • Windows masih lebih baik.

  13. Contoh Sederhana .. • Banyak bekerja dengan aplikasi keuangan Microsoft Money atau MYOB • TIDAK AMAN. • Aplikasi di Linux belum siap benar untuk hal tersebut.

  14. Contoh Sederhana .. • Banyak bekerja dengan aplikasi Engineering, seperti Computer Aided Design (CAD) • TERGANTUNG APLIKASI. • Biasanya di dunia komputer & elektro cukup banyak aplikasi berbasis unix. • Di dunia sipil dan arsitektur umumnya berbasis Windows.

  16. Rangkuman • Harus di akui, penggunaan Linux di sisi desktop (termasuk Office) belum semudah Windows. • Linux masih belum meninggalkan dunia Server. • Kalau mau jujur, yang mendrive kondisi Indonesia adalah free software-nya. • Berpindah ke Linux memang tidak mudah, tapi tidak mustahil.
