  1. How the World and Mankind Were Created Chapter 3 Cameron Marashi Colin Garner Michelle Zhao Priscilla Lowie Soonmin Hwang Tucker Zukowski

  2. The Creation of Earth Only Chaos existed until Night and Erebus were born from it. From the darkness and death came Love. Light was created by Love and Day. These natural forces were personified. Then came the 2 monsters, Gaea (Earth) and Ouranos (Heaven). Together they created monsters inlcuding Cyclopes, and also the Titans. But Ouranos imprisoned some of his children, which enraged Gaea. She helped one of the Titans, Cronus, overthrow his father and become the ruler of the universe. The Giants and Erinyes, also known as the Furies, sprang from Ouranos’s blood.

  3. The Creation of the Gods Cronus married his sister Rhea who had 6 children. Five of them were eaten by Cronus and the 6th, Zeus, was saved by his mother. He grew in Crete and came back to dethrone his father. His father regurgitated his brothers and sisters. They had a battle for control of the Universe, in which the gods reigned victorious.

  4. Creation of Man After everything was settled, Prometheus was charged with creating man with his brother, Epimetheus. The two brothers gave the creatures of Earth many gifts. Epimetheus the Scatterbrain gave the animals all the best gifts, such as speed, courage, and strength. However, this made the animals stronger than men. Therefore, Prometheus the Wise gave men the gift of fire from the sun and shaped them like the gods.

  5. The Five Stages of Man According to another source, the gods made man. First they made them golden and free of pain. They were given flocks and food, and became guardians of mankind when they died. Then they created the silver race, which was inferior to the gold, because they were not intelligent. They did not become spirits after death. The next race was brass. These men were violent, strong, and killed each other off. The fourth race was of heroes who went on great adventures and were sent to the isles of the blessed. The iron race was the final race. They are evil in nature and only know sorrow. One day, they will become so evil that Zeus will destroy them.

  6. Zeus’s Anger Prometheus favored men and stole fire for their benefit. He also tricked Zeus into getting the unfavorable portions of the animal sacrifice. Prometheus, with his gift of prophecy, knew the mother that would bear a son that would overthrow Zeus, but would not tell the king of gods. Zeus chained him to a rock and as a punishment, had eagles tear out his insides each day.

  7. Pandora (Gift of All) Pandora is a woman who was sent to punish men. She was beautiful and talented. Zeus sent her to Epimetheus and gave her a box which she was never to open. However she was possessed with curiosity and opened the box. All the plagues came out, except for Hope, which became the only good that remained in mankind.

  8. Zeus’s Flood Time passed and man grew so wicked that Zeus became outraged. He sent the flood to destroy men. Only 2 people, who lived on a high mountain, survived this flood. Deucalion and Pyrrha were warned by Prometheus to build a boat. Zeus felt bad for them and receded the flood waters.

  9. Stone People Deucalion and Pyrrha worshipped the gods and asked for help because they were lonely. The gods told them to throw stone behind them. The stones became people and they restored the Earth after the flood.
