The Life and Legacy of Abraham Lincoln: From Log Cabin to Presidential Assassination

Abraham Lincoln, born on February 12, 1809, in a Kentucky log cabin, was a self-taught individual who overcame many hardships. His mother, Nancy Hanks, influenced his early education, and he worked various jobs including postmaster, shopkeeper, and lawyer in Springfield, Illinois. In 1861, he married Mary Todd and faced the challenges of leading the nation during the Civil War. His pivotal Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 freed enslaved people. Tragically, he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth just days after the war's conclusion, leaving a lasting impact on American history.
