Goals of BIKE UCSB • Provide a fun form of exercise for individuals of all levels of fitness • Recruit faculty and staff to participate in a healthy and low-impact activity • Improve wellness and fitness • Encourage faculty and staff to use biking as an alternative form of transportation • Lower workmen’s compensation claims

“Wellness is making proactive choices to balance your physical, mental, and social life.” Representatives from 18+ campus departments work together to provide the following wellness services to students:

Drop-In Centers • Provide students opportunities to meet with wellness resource professionals at three high-traffic locations: • The University Center • Francisco Torres • Carrillo Dining Commons. • Over 200 weekly contacts
Programs • Provide weekend and evening wellness activities • 10 per quarter • 300 participants
Passports to Wellness • provide incentives for attending wellness events • Over 600 registered students

Meditation drop-in groups • Modeled after Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction • Offered free of charge to students • Led by health educator Mondays: 3:30 – 4:30 7 - 12 students Tuesdays: 4:15 – 4:45 7 – 9 students Fridays: 3:30 – 4:00 12 – 20 students
Licensed Massage Therapist • Offers Chair Massage to students by appointment at Student Health 3 hrs/wk • $10 for 10 minutes on a fee for service basis • Schedule is full • Full body massage is being considered for Fall
Free brief chair massages • available at no charge at the Wellness Drop-in hours at the UCEN • 10 – 16 students weekly
