Top 10 things to know about Ms. Furness • I am one of six kids and I am an aunt to seven nephews and four nieces. • I live in Minneapolis and I am thinking about getting a cat, which is a HUGE change for me. Usually I do not like cats. • I teach seventh grade because I like the energy of middle schoolers and their humor. • My pet peeves in the classroom are repeating directions which have already been given and students moving around the room when teaching is going on.

Top 10 things to know about Ms. Furness • I love to spend time with people who are important to me and to travel with those people. • My other hobbies include reading, watching movies, etc. • In the future, I see myself teaching for many years to come. I really enjoy helping students become better writers and deeper thinkers. • Someday, I want to live on the water. If it is in a warmer location, even better!

  7. Top 10 things to know about Ms. Furness • I love coffee and I require it for life on 99% of days. If I have not had my morning coffee, you will notice the difference! • I have high expectations of people, but I am also very fair. And I hold you to high expectations because I know you are capable and I want you to be successful in life, not just the classroom! 

  8. What will make the cut? • Look through your Brainstorm Chart. • Choose TWO (2) ideas from each category that you think are most important for you to share with me so that I can get to know you better. • Rewrite/edit these ideas so that they are all written in COMPLETE, WELL-FORMED SENTENCES. Example: I do not like when teachers tell jokes that they think are funny but nobody else does.

  9. Make a Top 10 list • Grab a piece of paper from the front of the room. • Use the colored pencils/crayons provided to make a Top 10 list of things to tell me about you. Add color and imagery to make it easy to read. • Title your paper: Top 10 things to know about ___________ _______________ (First Name Last Name) • Begin with the 8 ideas you have from the brainstormed / edited lists. • Add (2) more random facts about you. It could be favorite things, dislikes, etc. It is totally up to YOU!
