Making the most of your time abroad PLAN AHEAD! • Consider your options, keeping in mind the skills you want to gain – where will you go next? • Research the country • Seek advice from other people who have worked/studied in that country • Find out about the industry/university • Budget sensibly – remember to consider medical expenses, insurance, VISA fees • Contact your doctor in advance

  5. Possible Obstacles • Visas and work permitsUK nationals do not need a work permit to work in any of the EU member states. Most other European countries and other countries through the world require you to have a work and residence permit. http://www.workpermit.com/ • Is there an immigration quota? Check with your GP in advance and make sure you get an immunisation booklet if you need one. • Funding – be realistic about what you can afford (travel, living expenses etc.)
