The Problem of Youth Involved Fires According to the 2011 NFPA report “Children Playing with Fire”, fires started by children accounted for an average of 56,300 fires with associated losses of 110 civilian deaths, 880 civilian injuries and $286 million in direct property damage per year between 2005-2009. Pilot Project • Goals • Test the concept of capturing YFS information • Assess the feasibility and ease of YFS professionals to collect and enter 15 data elements into a draft version of a web-based national database. • The purpose is NOT to specifically test the web portal created for the pilot International association of fire fighters charitable foundation
