  4. Weaknesses • Businesses not obliged to preserve archives Necessary awareness-raising is lengthy and gaps in the archival law exist = important archives have been lost • Dispersed archival fonds • Archival fonds of minor value • Latent archival fonds

  5. Threats Worldwide economic crisis Decision centres of many businesses have been transferred abroad Domestic political crisis

  6. Opportunities • “Business archives are part of the cultural heritage” • Opportunities in corporate governance • State Archives as expert centre • International exchanges and co-operation

  7. Challenges for the Future • Continuing work despite difficult times • Ensuring representativeness of the economic sectors • Anchorage: “Business archives have a cultural value”. • Creating useful synergies with domestic and foreign actors
