  4. Library collection already contains a large amount of digital content. • Digital items conform to current collection practices; we • select • procure • and provide access.

  8. Advantages to creating a Digital Environment • Creates new avenues for partnering with the community • Redefines the Library’s roll in the community • Add facilitator to our résumé • Knowledge creation business

Partnering with Clients • Joint Ventures • Client and library share costs on a specific and finite collection; e.g. high school and library share costs of digitizing yearbooks. • Collaboration • Client and library work together on collection(s) continuously; e.g. History Center and library share selection, workload, etc. • Consulting • Library acts as advisor, trains client staff to manage their collection. Theses collections may or may not be integrated into the larger digital environment.

Start Up Training period • Learning curve • Select and train staff – software and equipment • We already have training and project management materials that can be updated Pilot projects • History Center • Internal project • Test technological capabilities • Opportunity to reassess training methodology, project management, etc.

  11. Buy In • Select our initial community partners strategically: • Schools • Small businesses • Municipal offices • Promote on web site; social media • Programming

  12. Planning for the future • We are ready to go! • Still waiting for our per capita money. • Would like for digitization to have a budget line. • Go forward with Niles PLD as neighbor/partner • Hope for a happy ending.
