  1. CMS Discovery Reach for Randall Sundrum Gravitons in the Diphoton Channel • Randall-Sundrum (RS) models propose to resolve the hierarchy problem of the SM with a warped extra dimension of space. • Gravity scale = MPl exp(-krc) ~TeV; for krc ~11-12, no hierarchy prob • Gravitons in this model appear as high mass resonances, mn = xn k exp(-krc), J1(xn)=0 • The masses and widths determined by the parameters M1 and k • We probe the discovery of RS gravitons in the diphoton channel • Studies published in PTDR: • 10 fb-1: MG > 3.5 TeV for c=0.1; MG > 1.3 TeV for c=0.01 • Updated results with latest software

  2. RS Graviton Search in High pT Photons 95% C.L. Limit Discovery Reach • Limits: With 50/pb, can exclude a RS graviton up to M1=1.3 TeV, k=0.1; with 100/pb, ccan exclude up to M1=1.4 TeV, k=0.1 • Discovery Reach: With as little as 20/pb, we can claim discovery if M1<1.0 TeV, k=0.1; With 100/pb, we can claim discovery for M1<1.25 TeV, k=0.1 • We have the possibility of an early discovery for this channel and we are participating in an 50/pb CMS “early papers” exercise
