  2. What is a Protist? Protist are a diverse group of eukaryotic microorganisms which include mostly unicellular organisms.

  3. Diversity of Protist • The three different types of protist are animal like protist, fungus like protist, and plant like protist.

  4. Animal like Protist • Animal like protist are called protozoans (first animals). They share common traits with animals by moving through the environment and catching their food. Animal like protist are divided up into four different groups, protist with pseudopods, protist is cilla, protist with flagella, and parasitic protist.

  5. Fungus like Protist • Fungus like protist are heterotrophic, they act as decomposers. They break down dead organisms by releasing digestive enzymes into the dead organism. Two fungus like protist are water molds and slime molds. Water molds live in moist like environments. Slime molds live on land.

  6. Plant like Protist • Plant like protist are autotrophic they live in soil, on the bark of trees, and fresh and salt water. They also produce oxygen for us to breath. Most plant like protist are photosynthetic.
