  1. LOGISTICS ISSUES

  2. Selection of Dates • Summer Campaign • Fall Campaign • Y3 Meeting/Workshop Symposium

  3. Information Needed from Project Participants Regarding Instrument Deployment: What are your inlet requirements (e.g., flows, material, T/RH conditions)? Do you have pump needs (e.g., is a shelter needed for your pumps, does your pump exhaust need filtering?) Do you have constraints on conditions in sampling building (e.g., temperature range, temperature stability)? What are the servicing needs of your instruments (if servicing is to be supplied by UPR) -e.g., changing filters, filling reservoirs, daily checks, calibrations… Is internet/modem needed for instrument access, data transfer or other purposes at the measurement site? Can/will you run an ntp client on your instrument so all instruments at a site can be time-synched? Do you need facilities for decanting/analyzing/preserving sampling at sampling site? What basic meteorology measurements are desired and at what frequency? (The plan is to provide data at 15-min time resolution unless otherwise required.) Other deployment issues not covered here or in previous instrument questionnaire?

  4. Other Instrumental/Scientific Needs Someone to help with H1. Disdrometer - It would be good to have two, one at CSJ and the other at PE. If there is only one should go to CSJ. (Ping Chen?) CCN Counter (G. Frank will not be able to participate) Web cam system to determine cloud base height or another way to do this (e.g., ceilometer) Measurement of updraft velocities (maybe Fred Scatena could help us here) Measurement of cloud base height CVI (S. Mertes, IfT?, hopefully he can make it for the summer) AMS and ATOFMS so that we can cover both stations Rawindsondes (NOAA NWS local office can provide up to 5 at no cost) NOAA NWS local office - weather briefings. They need to know what we want from them. ????

  5. Data Issues Data archiving - UPR-RP will provide a secure archiving location with access for study participants. (Andrew, Felix) The official time zone for the measurements is UTC. Station IDs to be used - PE for Pico del Este, CSJ for Cape San Juan Data access - we will develop some sort of written agreement about data use/sharing policy and make sure everyone is ok with it. (Darrel, can you help us with this?) Please provide an estimated size of data files to help with planning ftp archive size. Look at the raw data every day and to do preliminary checks both for individual instruments and across instruments (campaign wiki, elog,..?) Other data issues/comments not provided here?

  6. Announcement First Symposium on Transport, Evolution and Impacts of African Dust into the Western Hemisphere, sponsored by IGAC (International Global Atmosphere Chemistry) Date: October 3-7, 2011 (together with the SSC IGAC Meeting) Location: San Juan, Puerto Rico Mark this date in your calendar so that you can attend. More details in the near future.
