  2. Adjournment: a temporary postponement of the proceedings of a case. Consolidate: A joining of two or more actions to be tried together. Petition: a formal written request to a court, which initiates a special proceeding. Testimony: an oral declaration made by a witness or party under oath. Verification: confirmation of the correctness, truth or authenticity of pleading.
