Ohio’s Credit Transfer • Transfers in the University System of Ohio* • Transfer volumes: 40,000 undergraduates – more than 7.0% transfer every year • Among students from the 2001 freshman class, 23.2% transferred in subsequent years • Transfer volumes have increased steadily by 21.0% in the last decade • Transfer between 2-year and 4-year institutions have increased in recent years. • Increases in transfer driven by rising enrollments: • Enrollment up from 467,039 in 2002 to 503,142 in 2009, resulting in • increased ratios of transfers-to-enrollments up from 6.4% / 2002 to 7.2% / 2009 • State Initiatives and Outcomes 2002-2009, Shoumi Mustafa, Darrell Glenn, Paula Compton, October 21, 2010* • *source: http://regents.ohio.gov/transfer/research/transfer-students-in-uso.pdf

  6. Ohio’s 51 Private Colleges Even though the University System of Ohio (USO) represents public institutions, many Ohio private colleges/universities willingly participate in transfer and articulation initiatives. Check with the accepting/receiving institution for transfer information.

Transfer Partnership Agreements (Articulation/Bilateral Agreements) Transfer Partnership (Articulation/Bilateral) Agreements are created between institutions to facilitate the transfer and applicability of specific program/course credits to ensure that credits are applied effectively to a degree or program.

Articulation and Transfer Clearinghouse Clearinghouse • Student requests his/her official transcript be sent to another Ohio institution. • Transcript will be sent electronically through the Articulation and Transfer Clearinghouse. An audit will be performed. • Transcript arrives at the receiving institution, accompanied by a report annotating the TAG, CTAG courses, etc. • Coursework is applied to degree requirements and becomes part of student’s permanent record at the receiving institution. Student Responsibility Checklist • Develop a transfer plan with an advisor/counselor • Request official transcripts from all colleges/ • universities attended • Request documentation for any alternative credit • completed (i.e. AP, CLEP, IB, etc.) • Know the deadlines (i.e. scholarships, admissions, housing etc…) • Understand admission requirements for college and program of study • Create a u.select account • Ask questions/Use resources Students with College Credit have the following responsibilities:
