  1. SIAMOIS Sismomètre Interférentiel A Mesurer les Oscillations des Intérieurs Stellaires Seismic Interferometer A? to Measure Oscillations in the Interior of Stars CONCLUSION / DISCUSSION kickoff meeting / conclusion

  2. Scientific programme • Many targets (solar like oscillations, other pulsators…). Cf Don’s talk • Other, further targets: precise selection criteria are required to optimize the preparatory work • d < -45° for airmass < 2 • : opposite to the Sun in June  range [15-21 h] to be avoided except if declination is ‘very negative’ • Too many targets? • Further simulations are required • synthetic spectra  performances (other types than FV or GV) • Doppler signature in specific cases: for example g modes of g Dor targets • Scientific specifications (which duty cycle for which target) kickoff meeting / conclusion

  3. Dome C • Constraints due to the site • Transportation • Temperature • No laboratory • Setup (very) limited • Environmental constraints • Discussion with IPEV / Experience of LUAN kickoff meeting / conclusion

  4. Inputs/simulations • Better estimate of the duty cycle (2nd wintering, E. Aristidi): during the winter nights, during N months after and before. • Measurement/estimation of sky brightness: photon noise limited performance for V = 5  vsky > 17/ ’’2 • Performance for magnitudes fainter than 5 (df << 2p !): faint target+rapid oscillation  limited performances • Performance for low fringe contrasts kickoff meeting / conclusion

  5. Communication (1) • Unique advantage of Dome C:only ground-based site providing 3-month long (100 days !) observations • For specific targets, 3 months or 3 x 1 month? • Only ground-based site providing a duty cycle about 80-90%, much better than 70% (WET) • Fourier tachometer: successful principle of GONG (in use for > 12 years) • Core program/additionnal program • Possible evolution: simultaneous multi-targets kickoff meeting / conclusion

  6. Communication (2) • SIAMOIS  COROT • SIAMOIS  SONG • SIAMOIS  future project • Link with IPEV, IPY • ARENA: federation of scientific projects to be operated at Dome C • (meeting: June 14-16, IAP) • Next conferences (COROT, UAI, Vienna workshop) • Conclusion of the kickoff meeting  ANR • We need a logo! kickoff meeting / conclusion
