  6. The common events of travelling are seldom worthy of being told; but the comfort of communion with the saints, and kindness shown by friends, deserve particular mention. The Christians at Rome were so far from being ashamed of Paul, or afraid of owning him, because he was a prisoner, that they were the more careful to show him respect. He had great comfort in this. And if our friends are kind to us, God puts it into their hearts, and we must give him the glory. Matthew Henry

  23. Am I a soldier of the cross, a foll’wer of the Lamb, And shall I fear to own His cause, or blush to speak His name? Must I be carried to the skies on flowery beds of ease, While others fought to win the prize, and sailed thro’ bloody seas?

  24. Are there no foes for me to face? Must I not stem the flood? Is this vile world a friend to grace, to help me on to God? Sure I must fight if I would reign; increase my courage, Lord; I will bear the toil, endure the pain, supported by Thy Word.
