  1. Measuring Mass Mrs. Woodham’s Math class!

  2. What is mass? • It is the amount of matter that makes something up • It does not change no matter where you are at • It is different than weight, because weight changes when gravity changes

  3. This cow’s mass is the same even on the moon!

  4. How is mass measured? • Mass is measured in grams • 1gram= one tiny unit cube • 1kilogram= 1000 grams, or about 2 pounds (the size of a baseball bat)

  5. Bring this to class… • List 5 things that you think have the mass of 1 gram, or a tiny unit cube • List 5 things that you think have the mass of 1 kilogram, or a baseball bat (2.2 pounds) • See you in class tomorrow…we will use your lists for an iPad project!
