  5. PubMedLinkOut You will need: LinkOut Library ID LinkOut password The utility is found at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/linkout/doc/lbsub-i.html Submission Utility

  6. LinkOutEnhancements You can select the Month and Year for a subscription’s start or end date. You can select a delay (embargo period) for titles. Your links will not show until the delay period is past. A sliding scale subscription (retention period) can now be selected for online holdings. Choose the “Retained for” option. LinkOut Enhancements A function to load print holdings for: Libraries who are not Serhold members Linkout-SERHOLD and Upload Holdings may be combined when two or more libraries wish to display each other’s holdings under separate icons (one icon for each library). If you wish to display the print holdings of two or more libraries under just one icon, you must use Upload Holdings only Upload Holdings

  10. LinkOut Enhancements Call numbers and/or a Custom Holdings statement can be added to the Upload Holdings text file. The file must be 1.5 MB or smaller Call numbers can be up to 50 characters long Custom Holdings can be up to 50 characters long You can add a call number, a holdings statement or both The file must be maintained, updated and reloaded by the library but this can be done as often as you wish File is active by 2 pm the next business day Call Numbers & Custom Holdings - Upload Holdings

  13. LinkOut Enhancements Add a Link – Serhold and Upload Holdings A link to your catalog or an ISSN search can be added to your print holdings display. It works immediately. You may need to work with your vendor to create the correct search syntax

  19. LinkOut Enhancements Cancel All Print Holdings Print holdings can be deleted via Serhold or Upload Holdings. Warning: This will delete ALL print holdings

LinkOutEnhancements LinkOut Total: total full-text and print accesses LinkOut Full-Text: number of times users click on your library’s online full-text icon LinkOut Print: number of times users click on your library’s print collection icon holding=[library username] - number of times users access PubMed using the PubMed URL with your username Statistics are also available in text version for export NOTE: Statistics don’t track the number of users or IPs. Statistics have been updated

  23. LinkOutTips and Tricks Alternate methods Ebsco users can ask Ebsco to automatically load holdings information from EBSCO’s full text databases and Electronic Journals Service (EJS) to LinkOut. Ebsco can load holdings one time or on a continual basis. Only titles listed under “Ebsco” on the providers list will be effected. http://support.epnet.com/custsupport/UserDocumentation PubMed.doc

  24. LinkOutTips and Tricks Alternate methods Note: When Ebsco sends files on a continual basis, the titles will NOT be visible in the submission utility and you cannot manage them. The links created by this file will be shown in PubMed. To avoid unexpected results like duplicate links, you should delete all holdings you marked under Ebsco in the submission utility BEFORE Ebsco sends your file to us.

  25. LinkOutTips and Tricks Alternate methods OhioLink users can ask OhioLink to add online holdings Serhold users can have print holdings uploaded and maintained via Serhold/OCLC. Once loaded, any new or edited records should be automatically sent to LinkOut for loading.
