Facts are for awesome people Facts Lol, belly button • Ancient dudes called the island, “the belly button.” • Carved by hand with volcanic ash. • The moai are more than eighty feet high and some are more than eighty tons but they are still not heavy enough to withstand tsunami strikes. • The people of Easter island suddenly stopped making Moai. • The island is 2,200 miles west of South Africa

  3. MoreFacts facts Sweet man. • The island used to be forest but the islands enviroment was destroyed partly by the natives and partly by things like tsunamis, modern day people, and animals. • Many Moai have been rebuilt since 1950.

  6. Other People’s Theories Theories from funny people hahahahah • Terry Hunt believes a certain type of of rat, the Polynesian rat, killed the trees by chewing through the trees. He also thinks the dutch traders came and took some natives and the rest died from disease brought by the traders. • A fifth grader says thought they used seaweed as a lubricant to move the moia. They couldn’t use anything edible though because the were running out of food.
