  2. Introduction • Include a startling fact. • Tell why you selected this country • Be sure to include something that will get the audiences attention.

  3. Location • Briefly describe to me where the country is located. • Explain how the climate and location affects what is grown. • Explain how what is grown affects what they eat. Jamaica Jamaican’s eat a lot of seafood because it is surrounded by water.

  4. Traditional And Favorite Foods/Eating Habits • Give an example of a typical diet. • Tell what you might eat if you were to visit. • How many meals do they eat a day? • What combinations of foods do they typically consume? • How do their diets compare to our food pyramid? • What factors influence family meals? • What factors influence their food choices? • What are the main foods the people eat? • Consult cookbooks, books, encyclopedias for clues.

  5. Holidays or Traditions • Select two or three holidays and tell how food is important to each of them. • You must choose holiday’s or traditions where food plays a part in it!

  6. Common Recipes • Select two or more common recipes to describe to the class. • Talk about the ingredients that are commonly used. • Describe any special equipment that might be used to prepare the dish. • Explain any special cooking methods used to prepare this dish. • Ex: Jerking: a native Jamaican method of spicing and slowly cooking meat to preserve the juices and produce a unique spicy flavor.

  7. Conclusion • Share some additional interesting facts about the food or eating habits of the country selected. • Share what surprised you about the culture. • Share any truths about any misconceptions people or you had about the culture.

  8. Presentation • 6 X 6 rule = no more than six bullets per slide. No more than six words per bullet. • Include pictures related to the topic but don’t go overboard • Choose a font size and background color that is easy to read. • Do a spelling and grammar check!
