  2. What is it? • It’s hosted on Moodle • Moodle is an Open Source learning management system (LMS) designed to host online course materials and collaborative activities. Moodle is an acronym for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment - but at NPS/CHDS we use "moodle" as a noun, verb, adjective, etc.. any part of speech required when referring to the courseware website or the activity required to build a course.

  3. Huh? • Basically it’s a way to share information. • From Diraux • In between members • On specific Issues • Within Units • Lots of content is already there!

  4. No Really…What is it? • It allows for: • Discussion Forums • Wiki’s (Collaborative pages) • Chat Rooms • Messaging • Blogs • For more info on “HOW” see “Using Moodle” on https://www.chds.us/courses/

  5. How do I get there? https://www.chds.us/?special/info&pgm=Maritime Click here to start the account process.

  6. Request your Account Fill out requested information and note that you are part of the Federal Government. Click complete near bottom when you are done.

  7. Account is confirmed

  8. Account Created You will receive an email within minutes from Naval PG School with your email and new password. You can change your password once you are established within MII. Until then, simply copy and paste the password into the logon screen where the password is requested.

  11. Request MII access This is where you will end up checking your MII program status. Your application for membership will have to be approved by the Commodore or DIRAUX.

  12. MII access will be confirmed Approval can be as quick as a few minutes. If you hear nothing after 3 days give the Commodore or DIRAUX a call.
