  2. “The hope is that, in not too many years, human brains and computing machines will be coupled together very tightly and that the resulting partnership will think as no human brain has ever thought[…]” Comp-YOU-ter

  3. It pioneered the way for Human-computer interaction (HCI)

  4. Design for People Bill Moggridge

  5. Bill’s ambition was to explain design

  6. He “saw” that we could get ideas from understanding people.

  7. Design for Debate

  8. Critical Design: To create answers than to provide answers.

  9. “A skillful use of satire and irony can engage the audience”

  10. Design for Research (and vice-versa) Gillian believes that business and academia, in collaboration, have much to learn from each other. Gillian Crampton Smith

  11. The craft of Interaction Design A craft is a way of working that you develop entirely through experience without thinking about rationalizing it or systematizing it. “I believe that craft is essential to interaction design and always will be.”

  12. “I think that what we’ve learned over the past forty years, is not that computers will be able to design instead of us, but rather just how complex it is to design.” Think outside the box

  13. In real art, theory does not precede practice but follows her. Thus, the only way toresearch design is by doing design.

  14. What is interaction design? Interaction design, considers HOW humans interact with devices and systems, in a way more involved than simple ergonomics. Research: Finding out about people, their needs and desires Thinking: “What should this thing we are designing do?”. The practice of interaction design is knowledge-intensive and multidisciplinary at heart.

  15. “Interaction design needs a fusion. It’s not just visual, it’s not just sound, it’s a mixture of things.”

  16. “Try to understandpeople through observing them” “Try to understand what people really value”

  17. “In the same way that industrial designers have shaped our life through objects that they design for our offices and for our homes, interaction design is shaping our life with interactive technologies[…]. If I were to sum up interaction design in a sentence, I would say it’s about shaping our everyday life through digital artifacts – for work, for play, and for entertainment.” Gillian Crampton Smith

  18. They all do design, based on different philosophies! To create better, more human, electronic products, media, and services. Designers used to write the story so the world might see the future. Today, interaction designers are writing the story so the world can participate in it.
