They travelled around dealing out the KINGS justice, expanding it beyond the royal lands
The Assizes of Clarendon: - Established a common law from local customs and set out rules for trying cases in England & re defined the writ system

Henry was angered of the issue of criminal clerics
Henry eventually managed to gain control of the church courts, but he could not stop appeals going to the pope

This meant that his sons were able to rebel against him, because they had the support of parts of the empire
Henry eventually crushes his sons rebellion at the battle of Rouen
6. Mercenary Army/Reorganisation of army The new army was made up of mercenaries, rather than knights who would only stay for 40 days
This meant that it was easier to garrison castles with troops, they werent going to leave half way through a siege
Instead of soldiers, knights became the leaders of the new army, their commanders, and this was a job that paid a lot of money
This army was more effective than just feudal knights alone
