Responses • Began effort to end foreign rule and achieve independence. • Intensified interest in self government and expectations of political reforms from Britain • Western educated Indians felt that the Acts violated individual rights; violent protests • Angered millions of Indians; caused loyal British subjects to become revolutionaries & nationalists • Weakened British authority and economic power • Peaceful demonstrations weakened British economic power. • Greek soldiers invaded, Mustafa Kemal led Turkish nationalists to independence.
