  13. The Bible and the Mind Romans 8:5-9 (NKJV) 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. • Philippians 2:5, the mind of Christ in us • Romans 8:5-9spiritually minded Philippians 2:5 (NKJV) 5  Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

  15. The Bible and the Mind 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NKJV) 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, • Revelation 2:23, He searches the minds and hearts • 2 Cor. 10:4-5bringing every thought into captivity Revelation 2:23 (NKJV) 23  I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  19. The Bible and the Mind • 2 Corinthians 7:9, Acts 8:22, repentance, repent • Μετανοέω, (metanoeō,) - “to change one’s mind” (Thayer)“ to perceiveafterwards” • (Vine’s)lit. “to think afterwards • Repentance begins with the mind! 2 Corinthians 7:9 (NKJV) 9  Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing.

  20. Renewing the Mind • Renewal – to revitalize or refresh. To make new again! • “The adjustment of the moral and spiritual vision and thinking to the mind of God, which is designed to have a transforming effect upon the life.” (Vines Expository Dictionary)
