State of Texas uniformed admission standards • Per Texas state law, Uniform Admissions Policy, TEC 51.803-51.809 requires that all students must meet one of the following college readiness standards in order to be eligible to be considered for admission at a Texas Four-year Public Institution. • Successfully complete the Recommended or Distinguished Achievement high school program • Satisfy the College Readiness Benchmarks on the SAT or ACT assessment • SAT – 1500 out of 2400 (this score requirement includes writing) • ACT – 18 English, 21 Reading, 22 Mathematics and 24 Science

Applicants Not Automatically Admitted • After automatically admitting eligible Texas applicants each year, the university fills any remaining spaces in the freshman class through holistic review. • academic achievement • personal achievement. December test scores: Official ACT and SAT test scores for summer/fall applicants that arrive in our office by December 31 will be considered on time.

Academic Admits/Automatic Academic Admission  rank in the top quarter of their graduating class  achieve combined SAT Math and SAT Critical Reading score of 1300, with a minimum score of 600 on each of these components, or achieve a composite ACT score of 30, with a minimum score of 27 in ACT Math and ACT English  have successfully taken all minimum required and recommended coursework AND  ensure all required credentials are received by the freshman closing dateOctober 15.

  9. Academic Excellence Scholarship • Amount: $2,500 to $8,500 per year • Qualifications: For students who have a competitive academic profile – typically • 1200 on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT and/or • 25ACT composite • class rank in the top 20 percent.

Academic Requirements Award Amount • SAT ACT RANK • 1400 32 top 10% of class $24,000 • PLUS one-time $4,000 for 2014-2015 • 1300 29 top 10% of class $16,000 • 1250 28 top 10% of class $14,000 • 1500-1600 34 top 25%-11% of class $20,000 • 1400-1500 32-33 top 25%-11% of class $16,000 • 1300-1400 29-31 top 25%-11% of class $14,000 • 1250-1300 28 top 25%-11% of class $12,000 • 1200-1250 27 top 25% of class $12,000

  12. How do I sign up? www.act.org www.collegeboard.com IS THERE A WAY TO TAKE IT FREE? If you are on free or reduced lunch, you may get a fee waiver form from your counselor for two administrations per test.

  13. When do I sign up? • Some sophomores and juniors take earlier. • Practice • Experience timed testing • Familiarity with type of test questions • Reduce anxiety • By summer of junior year. • You are academically prepared then. • Scores will be received for August college applications.
