Population Then and Population Now 1981 There were 18 black footed ferrets left on earth. • 2008 • There were 750 in the wild and 250 in captivity. • 2011 • There now are 1,000 ferrets in the wild. • Each year 250 return to the wild.
Saving the Black-Footed Ferrets • They are keeping them in captivity until they are ready to go out in the • wild. • They are keeping them healthy and training them. • The US efficient wildlife service are keeping them in captivity. • The Phoenix Zoo, Louisiana Zoo ,Cheyenne mountain Zoo , Toronto Zoo, and the National Zoo are keeping and helping them.
Our Prediction They are keeping them in captivity to help and prepare them for the wild. We think that the chances of their survival will be good because they have the prairie dogs to rely on and they have better chances in the wild because they are being trained in captivity.
