  8. Requirements of National Accrediting Agency • 1. Program Length < 40 credits • 16/23 PN Programs > 40 credits • 12/23 PN Programs > 50 credits • 2. Typical Accredited Program Length • 10 to 12 credits of General Education Credits • 28 to 30 credits of Practical Nursing Credits

Specifics of Project… • Curriculum framework is NOT mandated for programs to adopt • The general education courses are NOT mandated • Credit length for courses are NOT mandated • The curricular framework is not an all or none. • Pick and Choose • All courses will need to go through AASC at the individual campuses

Union and ATI-CMAP • I requested input from • faculty at the workshop in August • in an email in September • For any other companies with a Mapping program • Received no feedback on alternatives • I am NOT getting any “kickbacks” from ATI • Many of our programs are using ATI throughout the state, and it is the only program that we were aware of that provided the versatility of the CMAP program

  16. CMAP • Programs are NOT required to use the CMAP program. • All of the work we are doing, will be available in electronic reports without a program EVER using ATI. • All reports will be available up in the Health Force MN website as they are developed.

  17. Academic Freedom • No program is required to use what we are developing statewide • You can change whatever you want to in the programming. • We are doing the “foot work” for programs in Minnesota • Use what you want to in the material developed.

Lab Courses: Semester 1 • PN 100: Foundations of Practical Nursing • SUGGESTED CONTENT FOR SKILLS LAB: • infection control, • elimination including catheter insertion, • Med administration (non parenteral) • drug calculations, • documentation including computerized charting, • body mechanics, • nursing process, and • assessment of body systems. • PN 120: Nursing Care of Older Adults • SUGGESTED LAB TOPICS INCLUDE: • BASIC oxygen equipment • postmortem care, tissue/organ donation, • glucose monitoring, • enteral tubes and feedings, • parenteral medication administration, • wound care, • emergency preparedness.

Lab Courses: Semester 2 • PN 210: Nursing Care of Adults • SUGGESTED LAB TOPICS INCLUDE: • Advanced oxygenation systems, • Advanced wound care, • IV maintenance, • Advanced drug calculations, • Complications of immobility, • Advanced elimination procedures, • EKG, • Joint replacement care and • Pre/postoperative care. • N 220: Nursing Care of Women/Newborns/Children • SUGGESTED Lab Topics Include: • Assisting in performing client non stress test (PG), • Monitoring a client in labor, • Performing care of the postpartum client • Reinforcing client teaching on infant care skills   • Pediatric assessment, • Temperature measurement • Toys/activities for developmental stage, • Restraints, • Medication administration skills, • Transporting infants/children, • Specimen collection and safety measures.
