  3. Population • 6, 995, 655 in 2009 • 25-100 people per a automobile • 4 to 5 people per house hold • Average of children per house is 4 children

  4. Languages • Most speaks Guarani and Spanish • School, government and in commerce use Spanish • Conversation Guarani • Some adults can’t write and read • Paraguayan’s Spanish is called Catellano

  5. Asuncion is the capital city The largest cities are Ciudad del Est and Asuncion About half of the people that live in Paraguay live in town and cities Capital City/Important Cities

  6. Don’t appreciate shouting and being rude Men usually give up their bus seats to older people and women Poor people is clean too Culture

  7. Religions • Roman Catholicism 89 percent in 2002, so about 90 percent is roman Catholicism • Woman tend to be more religious than men • President must be Roman Catholicism

  9. Government • Chief of the state is the president • Government Palace is in Asuncion • Government Palace was completed in 1892.

  10. Geography • Paraguay doesn’t have mountains • Trees shed leaves in the winter • There is a river called Paraguay River • Although Paraguay is a land lock country, water comes from the river

  11. Education • Children must buy uniforms and supplies • Many rural children never drop out to help their families from farm • The law requires children from age 7 to 13 have to attend school.

  12. Money is called Guarani Get money from farming and growing trees 100 cent is Guarani Money can be just in paper form Currency

  13. Agriculture • Works on small plot until the soil is no longer productive • Many people don’t own land for agriculture • Fifth of land grows crops • Eastern has the best soil • Animals farms on large farms

  14. Animals/Plants • There is an animal called harpy eagle • National flower is mburucuya • Mburucuya can be passion frait, or passion flower • Bush Dog ia an animal that its back side and the sides of body is reddish brown

  15. Eat lots of meat Another common food is cassava Cassava might be boiled Mazamora: Corn Mush Sooyo Sopy: soup with ground meat, served with rice or noodles. Food
