  3. Having the right information • Having this information on time • Sharing this information • Using a common (information) language standard • (E.g. Definition and translation into XML/ other standard….)

  4. The IAN-system will support you, but…. Support of IAN- system ..There is space for misunderstanding When assistance? How assistance? Logistics, what and where?

  5. Mutual expectations What are the needs? Common language?

  6. Example What kind of equipment? Where? “Country X does not have the field equipment for stopping further pollution. Equipment will be on the groundabout 13 hours. According to the latest information from the field oil slick is 3 kilometers from the border with Y.” Arrival time? After 13 Hrs? or at 13.00 Hrs? Estimated quantity? Key question: What do you expect from who?? Not to blame… but to learn from….

  7. What is the “assistance information” you need to know? • Who? (contact information) • What? (description of the asset) • Where? (location, co-ordinates etc..) • With which? (E.g. means of transport) • Why? (Description of the problem) • How? (How will it be delivered?) • When? (Date and time)

  8. Definition of assistance(example) • Material: • 2 pumps, capacity….. • 3 Water purification units, capacity… • Shelters (winter) for 400 people • Advice: • Environmental impact assessment • (in particular flooding experts) • Staff: • Fire fighters (50) Including when and where, contacts etc…
