  1. Analysis Of Paranormal Activity

  2. The Trailer In the beginning of the trailer is a bright green sign stating the certificate of the film ‘R’ this means restricted. It also shows that this film has been rated appropriate for all audiences. But an restriction for under 17’s to be accompanied by an adult this is a legal requirement. The trailer then cuts to a line of people waiting in a queue, you also see writing appear on the screen saying ‘ In September 2009, a screening was held in Hollywood, California. This shows that they are queuing up for a film. You then move in to the cinema and see people sitting down in a cinema. And more writing appears to say that these were one of the first people to see paranormal activity, Then the film starts. This trailer is different because its showing it from an audiences perspective more as it looks as if there is a long shot used to film the cinema screen, showing peoples heads that are watching the film. Non diegetic sounds was used through deep drumming as the audience entered the cinema, and diegetic sounds of people talking as they are in the queue and finding their seats. A fade in editing shot is used to show the ‘paramount’ picture you also hear the non diegetic sounds of the film reeling, then a deep and scary noise that runs throughout the rest of the trailer. The film also seems like a documentary. You also get cuts back and forth to the film and the audience this is to see their reactions to what is being shown. You then get back to the film and see a man setting up a camera on a woman in her bed. Then you get shots around the house showing that everything is locked and alarm is on. You then hear a noise of the light and see it shaking. You then hear the woman on the bed saying ‘Something's hear’ as she whispers it it adds tension like she's too scared to be talking out loud. The camera then cuts to the audience where there is a medium shot on a man and woman holding each other looking scared to death. This adds a great deal of tension, the camera then cuts to the film and something jumps it then quickly cuts back to the audience to get their reaction, they all jump scream and gasp, this essentially makes the audience at home jump as that’s the reaction of many others. You then see the woman in bed sleeping, when the covers all of a sudden start to move like someone or something is underneath. You then see the door slam shut when nobody is there. This is a heart stopping moment as nobody knows how that is done as the house is empty it leaves your mind running wild. The trailer then has writing on the screen saying ‘ Paranormal activity is one of the scariest movies of all times’ this draws you in more and makes you more interested as it is teasing you to see if you think its one of the most scariest movies. You then get cuts of different victims of this scary thing that was moving everything in the house. You see people that are bitten and have marks on their skin, this makes the film and trailer seem quite disturbing it then cuts back to more writing stating that the film is ‘genuinely horrifying’ seeing the audience so scared makes u believe that the film is that scary and its not just the best bits seen in the trailer and the reactions from the audience are really shocking at what they are watching. ‘ You can not run from this its following you’ this makes you feel venerable. You then get another load of writing that says ‘ The entire auditorium was freaked out of their minds, people were physically shaken’. This you can see is a true fact as you see a lot of the time the audiences reactions. You then see fast cuts of more to come on the film and the woman you previously seen with blood on her teeth and looking possessed. The cuts have writing in between them saying experience it for yourself. You then see more cuts of what's to come with loud banging noises and a loud thud as someone gets thrown across the room. The trailer then ends with the title of the film paranormal activity using a simple white font with yellow glow against a black background flickering like its being shown on a faulty screen. The final shot of the film is a list of film dates and cities its being shown in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_UxLEqd074

  3. This quote seems to be quite disturbing as its telling you what happens if you watch the film. Guaranteed to give you nightmares. This could tempts the audience more as they might want to find out if the film leaves you with nightmares. Poster Main image to show a man and woman scared and a woman pointing at the door, there is a long shot used as you can see the whole rom. And the picture seems to have a night vision effect as its kind of bluely colour Has the time of when this was filmed It also is giving you orders, if the film is not in your area demand it. It sounds like it’s a must see film Dark, black background shows a dark and evil. Red writing connotes blood and death. Conventional colours for something scary Tag line ‘ what happens when you sleep? PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. Don’t see it alone. This draws the audience in as it makes the film seem even more scary being told not to see it alone. Uses 4 colours. Not normal convention for front covers/ posters. Normally only 3 colours used
