If you look back into the history, you will find that Women and Shudras were neglected and treated poorly. They were not allowed to worship and do many rites. Women were considered inferior to men in each and every sphere of life. Even today, there are economically dependent on their husbands or parents. After so many years of independence, literacy among women is very low and thousands of them drop out after they attain puberty. Illiteracy and fear factor are the reasons for not sending grown up girls to schools. They have very poor housing conditions as well as have low access to resources and entitlements.
