  4. ADOHTA engagement with OHTGYP • Australian Dental & Oral Health Therapists Association (ADOHTA) is represented on the OHTGYPProgram Advisory Group and Graduate Selection Advisory Group • promote the OHTGYP through various avenues • provide guidance and input from time-to-time

  5. Program Intent • consolidate and extend skills of graduates • help address community oral health challenges • enhance public oral health workforce • more entering public health • staying longer (or both) • infrastructure funding ($22M)

  7. OHTGYP Program • 12 month placement under employment contract • approximately 40% of placements will be rural • 80% of time undertaking wide range of clinical activity • 20% of time on curriculum activity - 1 day/wk equivalent www.aitec.edu.au/ohtgyp

  10. OHTGYP Curriculum Overview The OHTGYP curriculum consists of: • orientation workshop (Adelaide) 28 – 30/1/15

  11. OHTGYP Curriculum Overview • 20 on-line modules with reference articles, available through OHT Learning Management System • 7 clinical webinars – 4 in conjunction with the Voluntary Dental Graduate Year Program • mentoring support

  12. OHTGYP Curriculum Overview • on-line discussion forums • project and presentation to host employer Curriculum developed by University of Melbourne in conjunction with Council of Oral Health Academics

  13. Curriculum Component - Project Aim - to develop expertise in an area of interest defined by the graduate in one aspect of oral health therapy practice. Nine weeks (20%) of the curriculum time allocated to work on the project and reviewing progress with mentors. This is scheduled in both: the OHTGYP Planner; and the OHTGYP Calendar.

OHTGYP Graduate Eligibility Criteria 50 OHTGYP 2015 placements offered across Australia • Australian citizen or a permanent resident of Australia • Complete an Australian accredited three year bachelor program of study in dual streams of hygiene and dental therapy in the immediately prior year • Ability to gain general registration as an Oral Health Therapist with the Dental Board of Australia with no restrictions

OHTGYP Applications timeframe for 2015 places • Promotion: June – August 2014 • Applications: 21 July – 17 August 2014 • Review/selection: August - September 2014 • Offer notification: September - October 2014 • Contracts: October 2014 • No late applications will be accepted Placement commencement: Monday 19 January 2015
