  6. AFC Kesgrave Background & Progress • Initially formed in 2005 as Kesgrave Kestrels U8’s • AFC Kesgrave formed 2007 with U10’s • 2008 - U8 • 2009 - U8, U11, Community Coaching Programme • 2010 - U8 • 2011 - U8 • 2012 - U8, U13 & U15 Girls • 2013 - U7, U8, U10 & U12 Girls

  11. AFC Kesgrave Expectations - Players Enjoy themselves! Listen Learn Disciplined Sportsmanship to be displayed towards everyone Match day & training kit Please help your child ensure they wear the correct kit!

AFC Kesgrave Code of Conduct - Players Always play to the best of my ability Play fairly – I won’t cheat, complain or waste time Respect my team-mates, the other team, the Referee or my Coach/Manager Play by the rules, as directed by the Referee Shake hands with the other team and Referee at the end of the game Listen and respond to what my Coach/Team Manager tells me Talk to someone I trust or the club welfare officer if I’m unhappy about anything at my club

AFC Kesgrave Expectations - Coaches Communication – Common Sense & Courtesy Inform parents as early as possible for matches or changes in schedules Timely responses Punctuality Should be setting example and be prepared/organised Provide a healthy positive environment in which to train/learn Positive not negative Provide structured training sessions/match days

AFC Kesgrave Code of Conduct - Coaches Place the well-being, safety and enjoyment of each player above everything, including winning Explain exactly what I expect of players and what they can expect from me Never engage in or tolerate any form of bullying Develop mutual trust and respect with every player to build their self-esteem Encourage each player to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance Ensure all activities I organise are appropriate for the players’ ability level, age and maturity

AFC Kesgrave Expectations - Parents • Communication – Common Sense & Courtesy • Please let coaches know as early as possible if you unable to attend training or matches - txt, e-mail or call • Please inform coaches of any illnesses, injuries etc. • Timely responses • Punctuality • Session or warm-up affected by people turning up late • Stand on opposite side of pitch – part of Respect campaign

AFC Kesgrave Code of Conduct – Parents/Spectators • Applaud the opposition as well as your own team • Remember that children play for FUN • Applaud effort and good play as well as success • Always respect the match officials’ decisions • Let the Coach do their job and not confuse the players by telling them what to do • Encourage the players to respect the opposition, Referee and match officials • Avoid criticising a player for making a mistake – mistakes are part of learning • Never engage in, or tolerate offensive, insulting, or abusive language/behaviour

AFC Kesgrave U7/U8 Information for 2013/2014 Season • Season starts 7th or 14th September • Two teams (5v5) • Games 40 minutes (20 minutes each half) • 10:30am KO • Rolling subs • Size 3 footballs • Goal size - 12’ x 6’ • Pitch size - 50 x 30 (min) or 60 x 40 (max) yards • Home pitch - Kesgrave Community Centre • Non-competitive

AFC Kesgrave Child Protection – Child Welfare Officer (CWO) • Has two fundamental roles: • Taking the lead in being informed and aware of the league or club’s responsibilities when running football activities for children and young people. This involves: • Ensuring these responsibilities are well-understood by others • Developing best-practice processes

AFC Kesgrave Child Protection – Child Welfare Officer (CWO) • Helping club personnel understand what their ‘duty of care’ towards children and young people actually means and entails on a day-to-day basis. For example: • Ensuring all relevant people complete The FA’s ‘Safeguarding Children’ training programme • Monitoring to ensure club and FA guidelines are being put into practice • Assisting those with regular contact with children and young people to complete the FA CRB paperwork
