Promoting IRS e-file Partnerships: A Collaborative Approach to Tax Preparation (2000)

In 2000, the IRS initiated partnerships with private industry to enhance the promotion of IRS e-file options. Through the Request for Agreement (RFA) process, various companies engaged in promotional activities, including distributing IRS e-file messages and ads, providing mailing lists, and promoting IRS e-file through their websites. The goal was to improve taxpayer access to e-file services in anticipation of a wave toward free tax preparation. Future cooperative marketing services were aimed at ensuring these opportunities were available by the 2001 filing season.
