  4. Chapter 2/3 Vocabulary • Estuary-a water passage where the tide meets a river current • Undulating-smooth wavelike motion • Furtive-in a stealthy manner • Spurned-rejected • Disparagement-speaking in a disrespectful way

  5. Literary Term • Juxtaposition-placing items side by side to allow images to gain significance. Watch for the image with the mice and the doctor.
