  3. Introduction/Background • We are a non profit organization located in Buffalo, NY. • Currently: They are using paper forms • Suggested Solution: Transfer to database to increase efficency

  4. Business Problems with Red Heart • All paperwork was done by hand, hard to efficiently store file data. • Papers easily lost and/or misplaced= Inefficiency • Need to actively recruit a diverse donor pool to make the service successful

Location Provides: • The exact location of each venue that donors can go to • Contact information of each venue Why is this important? • Our organization handles dozens of locations, communication is key • Promotion strategy to attract new donors for drives is local • Safety first, we are a medical service

  9. Visit Provides: • How many visits each venue gets (1 donor can have multiple venues, one venue has many donors • Donors wellness after donation “Are you feeling well?” • Qualification: We must meet strict safety guidelines as an organization

Business Value • Provides a more efficient system to store information about our donors • Easier for our employees to input data and keep track of donations • Donating becomes less of a hassle and gives donors a more pleasant experience • Organization able to promote donor supply and improve recruiting

  12. Donor by Blood Type • Sorts Donors by Blood type • Allows the user to know how many donors there are for each blood type Goal:Provide Red Heart staff a readily accesible list to recruit specific blood types to drive donor supply

  13. Donor by Emergency Info Provides contact information in case a donor experiences a threatening medical situation Goal: Ensures patient safety in the event of an emergency and protects the outstanding reputation by aiding effective employee action

  14. Location by Blood Type (Grouped) • Shows how many of each blood type there at each location • Allows users to plan and schedule for foreseeable shortages Goal: To identify needs and opportunities in recruiting to boost donor participation, diverse blood types are needed for patients

  15. Visit by Donors (Grouped) • Provides which location(s) a donor goes to identify trends of site performance • Gives feedback for donor’s experience Goal: Empower Red Heart staff with information to identify donor participation at particular sites and how their experience was

  16. User Interface Design • End users should be able to look up patients data with ease • Built to easily absorb thousands of new entries as database entries grow • Designed for accessibility both on and off site for Red Heart staff
