The IB learner profile • Inquirers: acquire skills to conduct inquiry and research; actively enjoy learning • Knowledgeable: explore concepts, ideas, and issues that have local and global significance • Thinkers: apply thinking skills critically and creatively • Communicators: understand and express ideas confidently in more than one language; work effectively with others • Principled: act with integrity and honestly; take responsibility for actions • Open-Minded: accustomed to seeking and evaluating a range of points of view; willing to grow from experience

Completion of Consideration Phase • IB Leadership Team has been established • Teachers have established weekly collaborative planning time and have “tried out” one IB unit • 12-13 Professional Development has focused on Common Core Standards and inquiry-based instruction • Application for Candidacy has been submitted • Principal and teachers registered to attend IB Curriculum Development training in June/July- returning teachers and new teachers

PYP Candidacy Year One 13-14 • Begin working with IB PYP Consultant • PYP Coordinator will be hired to support implementation of PYP and facilitate integration of the arts • Teachers and Principal will have access to IB worldwide school network • Continue to develop IB units and introduce IB Learner Profile to students • IB Leadership Team will work with community to begin work on Assessment Policy and Language Policy

PYP Candidacy Year One 13-14: site Specific goals • Implement new Wellness Policy and Caring School Community program in order to support integration of IB Learner Profile • School wide Community Building • Cross-Age Buddies • Class Meetings • Homeside Activities • Provide professional development for teacher on effectively integrating technology with IB Units and hire a technology instructional aide (funded by PTSO)

PYP Candidacy Year One 13-14: site Specific goals • Continue work on Common Core Standards with focus on Literacy and implementation of inquiry-based reading and writing workshop • Improve our implementation of Inclusive Practices • Collaborate with SCUSD Special Education Dept. to ensure we are moving towards a neighborhood school model; students may attend only if Caleb Greenwood is their neighborhood school or they apply through Open Enrollment or permit • Continue professional development with both general ed and special ed teachers on co-teaching and effectively differentiating curriculum for all levels of students • Schedule more time for small group instruction for students needing additional support or specialized instruction • Establish GATE Committee made up of parents and teachers to ensure that our GATE identified students are also getting needed differentiation and support
