Torres-Stone (director) The Multicultural Core is structured around three specific aims: Promote clinical services, multicultural research and evaluation initiatives for promoting multicultural mental health. Improve services for minority and immigrant populations by providing cultural competency expertise to community health organizations to increase cultural awareness and inform policymaking. Consult and Collaborate with other academic researchers and health service providers in the community in improving the quality of research on multicultural issues MULTICULTURAL CORE Dougs notes: Dr. Fortuna continues to conduct a NIDA funded therapy study of the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder with coexisting substance abuse with multicultural adolescents at Community Health Link. Family Options Inc.; Works in collaboration with DMH and DSS to provide services to families including, respite, parent education, home visits, services coordination, parent support groups, and advocacy. Nicholson and CMHSR researchers continues to developed a new approaches to supporting person living with mental illness in their role as parents. Grisso & Vincent: MAYSI-2 development of screening instruments to assess for mental illness in youth entering the juvenile justice system bringing a large benefit to the Commonwealth. Implemented in 39 states. Davis & Fisher: This is a grant to determine the feasibility of adapting an established evidence based practice that curbs antisocial behavior in adolescents, curbing offending behavior in young adults with serious mental health conditions. The goal of this project is to have an intervention ready to be tested in clinical trials on a large scale.
