  2. FINDUS productionofpeas • Fresh Frozen vegetables are beneficial. Some are even healthier than those called fresh. Peas, for example. But it is perhaps not surprising given that it takes less than three hours from harvest to freezer. Each plant and each soil from Findus vegetables are carefully chosen. • Findus own culture model LISA (Low Input Sustainable Agriculture) leads to a significant reduction in climate and environment. Since 1980, Findus environmental impact reduced by 30% only on our cultivation of peas. • Our vegetables are safe and nutritious, with no detectable residues. Baby Food Quality, we call it. With the environment and people in mind Findus grow peas, spinach, cabbage, carrots, parsnips, Jerusalem artichokes, turnips, chives, dill and parsley in fields in southern Sweden.

  3. FINDUS productionofpeas • Harvest • Four harvest groups of four self-propelled Ploegor-harvester is gliding in the field of cultivation of peas . A tractor-trailer is driving on the field and receives peas from the harvester tanks. Within three hours the pea should be frozen at Findus Bjuv

  4. FINDUS productionofpeas Icing and transportationEach harvesting group threshing between ten to fifteen tons of peas per hour. Every 40 minutes there is a truck going from the field to the factory. If it is hot outside, the peas are iced in the truck, as the pea contains fat that would otherwise go rancid quickly in the heat.

  5. FINDUS productionofpeas Weighing and washingEach load is weighed and tested when it arrives at the factory. When the peas are unloaded, they go through rough cleaning, where they are washed clean and gravel, stone and residues of pods are discarded.

  6. FINDUS productionofpeas • SortingThe peas size sorted into three groups - so called fractions.

  7. FINDUS productionofpeas BlanchingThe peas are blanched quickly in 98-degree water to keep the good taste. The exact time varies depending on how big and mature the pea is. Directly afterwards, the peas are rapidly chilled in cold water.

  8. FINDUS productionofpeas • Quality GradingThe peas are divided in different sizes. The middle fraction is graded from pea content of sugar and starch. High and consistent quality makes Findus pea unique! The small and large peas rolls on to the next step in the process - the colour sorter.

  9. FINDUS productionofpeas Color sortingThe peas passes through four machines containing cameras and air jets that blow away imperfections like brown spots, tubs and weed buds.

  10. FINDUS productionofpeas • FreezingEvery little pea is frozen individually. Within eight minutes the pea is flying on an air bed, the so-called "FloFreezers" that holds -30 °C air temperature

  12. More than 40% of the vegetables and herbs Findus sell aregrown in Sweden. It is vegetable for growing in our Swedishclimate. The vegetables advantageously cultivated in warmer climates, we import. For example, basil thrives best in Italy and Spain, while the most delicious broccoli comes from South America. Cultivated crops such as vegetables and herbs are always dependent on the climate; access to water, good soil and sunlight. Sometimes the precipitation and temperature is varying so that the harvest will be great on one side of the world and perhaps less elsewhere. Some vegetables are always grown in Sweden, it's vegetables and herbs that suit our Swedish climate. For instance spinach, dill, cabbage and root vegetables. Some seasons we have not the right conditions for maximum yield. Then we have to import from other countries.
