  3. What ? • Infertility : you can not conceive ( have a baby ) • in vitro fertilization – or IVF is the process of fertilization by manually combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish.

  4. Why ? • Many couples try to have kids but find out that they cannot. Which led to have an alternate solution for those couples to have kids.

  5. When ? • November 10 , 1977

  6. Impact • Led the way for five million further IVF births • Gave another option to have kids for people who were infertile.

  7. Interesting Facts • Take an egg and mix it with the sperm ( from the couple ) then put it into a special solution that had been created to nurture the egg before it divided • Let it divide for about five days before putting it back into the uterus. • In Lesley’s case , the doctors only waited two and a half days before putting the egg back in the uterus.

  8. Interesting Facts Pt. 2 • Louise and her sister planted a tree in memory of their parents at Bourn Hall , Cambridgeshire.
