EEE 334 LAB • Lab Area • Location: GWC 273 • Description: • Work benches accommodate work stations • Work station equipment: • Oscilloscopes:2 types, will need USB memory stick to save lab work • Function Generators: 2 • Multimeters:2typ. • Power Supplies:2 • Curve Tracer: 1 • Breadboard • Computer
EEE 334 LAB • Lab Area • Description • Component Bin • RCL Meter: To avoid mistakes, measure all parts (Resistors, Capacitors, Inductors) • Please return all components back to the bin when done with experiments
EEE 334 LAB • Lab Area Important Note: • The Computers at GWC 273: • Only have PSpice and Excel • NOT set up for internet • NOT set up for Acrobat Reader Print lab instructions before coming to the lab • Guidelines • Food or Drinks are NOT allowed at GWC 273 • Sign in, do not have to sign out • Only one group per work station • Whatever used during an experiment must be returned to its original place after use
EEE 334 LAB • Guidelines • Maintain Work Stations Clean, Neat and organized Work Station after end of Summer Session:

EEE 334 LAB • Lab Material • Overview
EEE 334 LAB • Lab Material • Overview • Important: • Students repeating EEE 334 must re-do all lab experiments (Department Policy) • Most experiments are time consuming • Labs 5 – 7 and 9 require the use of a Ground Strap due to the use of an electrostatic discharge (ESD) sensitive MOSFET chip Note: ESD can vaporize the chip’s very small inner conductors damaging it permanently Note: It is very important to wear the Ground Strap when handling this chip • Lab 8 is a new lab for preparation for Digital Circuits curses
EEE 334 LAB • Lab & TA hours • TA Schedule • Lab Hours of operation • Mon:12 – 10PM, Tu-Fri:8AM-10PM, Sat:8AM-12PM
EEE 334 LAB • Experiments • General • Experiments MUSTbe done in groups of 3 • Form groups today • Same members through class duration • Member can be from both EEE334 sections • Special Instructions for labs , if any, will be e-mailed prior to each lab. • i.e. for Lab 1: Do section 1.2 in PSpice too. • Data sheets must be done individually although experiments are conducted in groups • Get the data sheet stamped by the TA ONLY after completing an experiment and before leaving the lab area • If experiment is done in different lab visits, you must prove it in order to get the stamp Note: Copied data sheets WILL NOT BE STAMPED
EEE 334 LAB • Experiments • Avoid Common Mistakes • Check component values with RCL • Do not build messy circuits • Connect all circuit’s grounds to the source’s ground not to chassis ground • Always set the Signal Generator to High Z • Connect Signal Generator to OUTPUT not SYNC • Know difference between Freq. and Time domain • Do not Mix AC with DC quantities • Know difference between Vp-p, Vp and Vrms • Do not MIX UNITS (pay attention to powers i.e. 10E-6, 10E6) • Collect enough data points where applicable • Document sufficient lab data for report
EEE 334 LAB • Lab Report • Writing the report: Note: The ability to write quality technical reports is essential for an Engineering carrier • This Lab requires one lab report per group • Members take turns writing reports • The Report consists of: • Grade Sheet • Title Page • Introduction • Equipment and Components used • Procedure • Results • Discussion • Conclusion • Post Lab Questions
EEE 334 LAB • Lab Report • Writing the report: • Only typed reports allowed • No hand written nor photocopied reports • Avoid wordiness and empty statements • Keep it clean-cut, neat and organized • Use computer programs to draw circuits, graphs and tables • DO NOT CONTROL COPY FIGURES FROM LAB MANUAL • DO NOT REFER ME TO THE DATA SHEET, PUT ALL OBSERVATIONS AND RESULTS IN REPORT • Keep number of sheets per report to a minimum 10 pages max + DataSheets
EEE 334 LAB • Lab Report • Turn in Lab Reports: • Drop only ON TIME reports into the white wooden box in the GWC 273 lab area on the due date by 10PM • Late Reports: • Turn in late reports directly to me OR get them signed and dated by a TA and slide under my door • DO NOT DROP LATE REPORTS INTO WHITE BOX, YOU WILL LOOSE 50% OF GRADE • Late lab report penalty is -10% per day not including University Holidays • Reports that are turned in after graded reports are returned need to have the Professor’s signature
EEE 334 LAB • Lab Report • Grading • Point Distribution Sheet: There is a -5 points penalty for missing Grade Sheet
Have a great semester! Thank You
