PREPAR ING ALGINATES

DESCRIPTION

This guide covers the essential steps for preparing alginate impressions, emphasizing the importance of proper mixing and application techniques. We recommend shaking the sachet or jar before use to ensure homogeneity. The recommended mixing ratio is 1:1 (9g powder: 20ml water) with precise dosages for upper and lower jaw impressions. Follow the phases of mixing (Violet, Dark Pink, Light Pink) for optimal results. Additionally, proper storage conditions at 5°C to 25°C in sealed containers are crucial for material integrity.

  1. PREPARING ALGINATES

  2. PREPARING ALGINATES • we recommend shaking the sachet, resp. the jar well before using the material – homogenizing the material • don’t compress the material in the measuring scoop

  3. COLOUR INDICATION 2:30 min Setting time Mixing Working Setting in the mouth 30 s Working time 1:50 min

  4. PREPARING ELASTIC CROMO 1:1 (9gof powder :20 mlof water) MIXING RATIO +

  5. Preparing - Dosage 1. water 2. powder Upper jaw 3 scoops+ 3 cups (guage marks) (powder) (water) Lower jaw 2 scoops + 2 cups (guage marks) (powder) (water)

  6. Preparing - Mixing 1.VIOLET phase – MIXING 30 s • the mixing is done by long strokeswith a plastic spatula along the mixing jar walls.

  7. Preparing - Application 2.DARK PINKphase – Application of the substance to the impression tray • fill the impression tray to the • edge • optimum impression layer is • 4 – 6 mm

  8. Impression – Tray insertion 3.LIGHT PINK phase – Inserting the tray into patient’s mouth

  9. Impression - Fixing 4.WHITEphase - Fixing the impression in the mouth – setting in the mouth

  10. Impression – Disinfection 1. Rinse the impression under running water 2. Disinfect in aqueous disinfection solution e. g. Jodisol (in ratio 1:10) 30 s

  11. PREPARING ALGINATES SETTING TIME IS AFFECTED BY: • TEMPERATURE OF WATER and AIR – recommended temperature is 23 ºC 2. HARDNESS OF WATER – distilled or deionized water • athigher temperatures andwaterhardness, the setting time is prolongedand the colour intensity of alginate impression material is changed.

  12. STORING ALGINATES • Generally recommended pouring time is within 1 hour • Prolonged pouring timeaccording to the manufacturer‘s recommendation – when appropriate storage conditions are ensured: • 100% humidity (transport box, PE bag with wet absorbent pad) • avoiding deformation – fix in the holder, on the impression tray 1. Impression storage

  13. STORING ALGINATES • In a dry and dark place, at 5 ºC to 25 ºC, in a well sealed container • We recommend pouring the contents of the sachet into the jar, which can be sealed to avoid degradation of the powder by exposure to humidity and air 2. Material storage
