  3. The Sikh Soul • The Sikh faith teaches that there is a divine spark en each and every individual. The soul is part of god the soul is reabsorbed into god on reaching freedom from the cycle of birth and deaths. Sikhs believe the soul lives though many different existences before being born into a human body.

  4. Sikh music • Sikh music (Shabad keertan) began in the 16th century to accompany the spiritual poetry written by the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak.

  5. Meditation • Sikhs meditate every morning at a shrine which may have a Guru Granth sahib

  6. Sikh devotion to others The Sikh way of life is a life of service to God,to the Khalsa and to humanity in general. There are 3 distinctive ,yet related aspects of sewa:- -Service to the community.For example,working in the langar,or helping to build and physically maintain the Gurdwara. -Service to the Guru.For example by studying and helping others to understand the teaching of the Gurus expressed through the Guru Granth Sahib. -Service to humanity.For example,by giving money to charitable causes,and by giving your time to help people in need.

  7. The Holy Book • When Sikhs first gathered together there was no special place of worship for them. • They simply met together in the presence of the Guru.The Guru Granth Sahib became the living Guru for Sikhs on the death of Guru Gobin Singh.All the Sikh services and ceremonies must take place in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib.It is treated with the greatest respect and honour.The Sikh scriptures bring together the words of a number of Sikh Gurus and some other Holy men.
