  2. Stages in Socialization • Anticipatory Stage • Before entering (being hired) the organization. Learning occupation as well as organization. • Encounter Stage • Sense-making stage for new employee. Newcomer must learn to let go of old values and roles and adapt to the expectations of the new organization • Metamorphosis Stage • Socialization completed. New employee is no longer new, but accepted as an organizational “insider.”
