  15. Predictive Sound • Music that builds tension in the audience prior to the climax of a scene.

  16. Sound • Can be used to create or simulate an environment shown on screen, or it can be used to contradict the video image.

  17. Matching Audio and Video • Historical relationships- music that belongs in the right era • Environmental relationships • Mood and tone relationships • Theme relationships.

  19. Sound effects • Sound effects work on the power of association. • should be placed on separate track from primary audio. • Used to confirm or to editorialize on the visual content.

  20. Music • Think about music before production begins. • Music expresses mood. • When selecting music remember target audience, structure, format.

  21. Audio Editing Strategies • Keep music a little lower than narration • Avoid vocals in music if used with narration or dialogue • Keep rhythm in mind. Music and dialogue have their own rhythms. • Ambience / nat sound should remain level. • Apply a fade or cross-fade when there are changes in levels. • Loop audio when need longer segment
