General John J. Pershing, born on September 13, 1860, in Laclede, Missouri, is renowned for his leadership as a key military figure during World War I and the early stages of World War II. He passed away on July 15, 1948, and is interred at Arlington National Cemetery. Pershing graduated from Kirksville Normal School and later attended West Point. He commanded the 8th Brigade and was affectionately known as "Black Jack" for leading Black troops. His legacy remains significant in American military history.

  3. Why is this person famous? General John J. Pershing is famous for being the rank general of the armies and for fighting in World War 1 and fighting in the beginning of World War 2.

  4. Is this person still living? If yes, what are they doing now? If no, when did they die? Pershing died on July 15, 1948. he is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

  5. Fact #1 Pershing was 87 when he died.

  6. Fact #2 General Pershing was the Commander of 8th Brigade .

  7. Fact #3 Pershing graduated from Kirksville Normal School in 1880.He received a teaching degree. He then went to West Point.
