  1. Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone J.K. Rowling Harsha Bollu

  2. About the Author • She was born on July 31, 1965 ,in England • Her idea of writing Harry Potter developed on a train trip • She has sold 400 million Harry Potter books • She has written a series of Harry Potter books. After this book, there is six more J.K. Rowling

  3. Settings • Dursley’s house- This is Harry’s aunt and uncle’s house • Hogwarts- A school where students study witchcraft and wizardry • Hagrid’s Hut- A friend of Harry’s, is Hagrid. He lives in a small hut in the outskirts of Hogwarts. Harry visits him quite frequently

  4. Plot • Harry Potter travels with Hagrid as he tells him his whole past • Harry travels to Hogwarts on the Hogwarts Express (as he meets Ron Weasley), and is sorted into Gryffindor • He then forms an enemy, Draco Malfoy • Harry catches Snape with an injured leg, which Harry came to a conclusion that he tried to retrieve what Fluffy was guarding • Harry, Ron, and Hermione find out that Fluffy was guarding a stone made by Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel, The Sorcerer’s Stone. The stone can make anybody immortal. • Voldemort, the dark lord, was trying to steal the Sorcerer’s Stone, to rise back to power • Harry and his friends get to the stone first, and Harry and Voldemort duel for the second time in their lives • At the end, Dumbledore destroys the stone, to get rid of all the troubles

  5. Characters Hermione • Harry Potter- An eleven year old boy that has a miserable life, until he finds a letter to go to an unusual school • Hagrid- He is a half- giant that guides Harry trough his past. He is also the Gamekeeper of Hogwarts • Ron- He is a the closest friend that Harry has. Harry meets Ron at the train station of the Hogwarts Express • Hermione- A bright girl that Ron and Harry don’t really like at first, but as the story progressed, she becomes their friend Hagrid Ron & Harry

  6. Conflict and Resolution • Harry vs. Malfoy- Harry and Draco Malfoy have a lot of frays because Malfoy’s father is a follower of Voldemort. Harry destroyed Voldemort, so the Malfoys don’t like him. • Harry and Draco’s conflict goes into the next books • Harry vs. Voldemort- 10 years ago, Voldemort, the dark lord, tried to kill Harry Potter. He failed at this attempt. This attempt backfired and Voldemort destroyed himself. At the end of the book, Voldemort tries to steal the Sorcerer’s Stone, but Harry duels him, and Harry wins again • Harry and Voldemort’s conflict continue into the next books Voldemort Harry Malfoy

  7. Theme • The theme of the story is to never let your feelings take over • I believe this is the theme, because, when Harry was living with the Dursley’s, they were treating him so poorly. They were so mean, that Harry wanted to run away and burn down their house. Also, in Hogwarts, their was nobody Harry hated more than Draco Malfoy. Draco hated Harry too. Draco always makes fun of Harry, so they formed a little rivalry against each other. Last but not least, Harry also doesn’t like his potions teacher, Severus Snape. Harry thinks that Snape is against Harry and Gryffindor. He always favors Malfoy. That is another reason Harry does not like him.

  8. Personal Book Review • I would definitely recommend this book to kids of all ages. I would, because it has action, comedy, and much more. It is a very unique book. I am going to read the next book soon. This is a book that you wouldn’t regret reading. Harry potterand The Sorcerer’s Stone is an excellent book.
