Impartial morality and theproblem of partial relationship: • How tony justifies his actions, makes us understand why he is a bad guy. • He thinks what he does of being bad is OK!Because hehelps his family. • From helping his family, hes benefiting others. (with crime and blood sheds) • Morality is essential to what he does it justifies all action.
Morality is essentially impartial, major moral mistake. • The view of the universe: Each persons welfare is equally important Each person deserves respect. • The end of moral justification comes once you have shown an act benefits a family member or friend. • The fact that a certain action will benefit my loved ones is never the end of moraljustification .From doing this act I have not considered how it will affect others
Example: The civil rights movement (everyone equal) • Morality has to be impartial • We don’t always have to be impartial to do the right thing. • MORAL THEORY: Only the beginning of the justification considers why relationship is important ? This question requires to adopt impartial point of view ,and that can end up causing a great deal of pain.
Should Dr.Melfi accept Tony as a patient ? • Dr. Melfi treats tony ,because of his heart attacks /panic attacks. • Tony doesn’t agree with the therapy, at first but later on the embraces it. • If Dr. Melfi would be impartial she wouldn’t treat Tony. • Two conflicting thoughts: she would be helping a patient she will help him become a greater mob boss, making him more dangerous.
Tony does not live with impartial justification. • example of Dr .Melfi’s help progressing: Tricking his uncle into believing he's in charge. • Dr Melfis husband doesn’t want her to treat tony. “Hes evil” • Is what Dr.Melfi is doing impartial justification? Will it make things worse? • Btw saving 2 strangers or Medow ,Tony will save Medow, family is more important.
To have happy good kids you should reflect on the partiality. • Dr. Melfi tells Tony to change career , it will give hima good mentalhealth. • Dr. Melfi should be aware of Tonys problems and how they affect others.
Caring and Impartiality • Tony Soprano divided: Good: He's a devoted father ,and friend. Bad: He kills and beats people. • Cares too much for family and friends ,not that much concern for others.
The sopranos :popular show ,because people see a littletony in themselves, Do to the idea of protecting our loved ones. • Just like tony we stand in need of justifying our actions from impartial point of view if we are to live moral lives.
